How will online security benefit my business
August 16th, 2011The world is online and so is virtually every business. Doesn’t matter if you just use email or if you have a full web presence, security is needed. With that being said, business owners also must keep in mind that they must not only protect their information, but any information they store about their customers. The proper online security will allow you to keep your customer’s confidence and allow you to focus on what matters.
Online security a prerequisite for every business network, along with good password practices it helps discourage unwanted intruders. If someone truly wants into your systems there is little that can stop them, but the trick is not making it worth the effort. Use a good firewall, antivirus/antispyware software, and internal security practices to help discourage unwanted “visitors”. Another important piece is knowing who you are working with. Do not fall for “phishing” scams. They are usually emails that look official, but lead you to reveal information to allow access to you or your customer’s information. To help determine if it is a legit email you should visit the sender’s site directly. Do not click any links in the email. These usually will redirect you to a site that may look familiar, but actually is a fake site. Online security can take many forms but it doesn’t have to be a difficult thing for any business to get into place.
